From the Mayor’s Desk – May 27, 2025
I would like to first thank the community for allowing me to serve you for the next 4 years. I have currently served this city for 20 years 12 as alderman and the last 8 as mayor. During this time, I have learned many things and continue to improve. With that in mind I am also surrounded by many other wonderful, elected officials and employees that make everything work. This recent election has brought about many new goals and future outlooks for our community. I have just added 2 new committees that may bring new opportunities and improve our public communications better.
My priority is to keep our water and sewer plant our own. But I also have a strong mindset to keep it as affordable as possible. That is a tremendous task as there are so many opinions on this. But it is very important that we keep not just the here and now needs in mind but the future as well. New limits and new requirements from the EPA will always be in play so I certainly will not do anything so that 10 years from now we will need to do more and pile additional loans on top of a loan. I want to secure our rate structure for the next 30 years and have a plant that is up-to-date, technology wise and easily upgradable to meet any future requirements.
One of the new committees I have created is Public Relations. The goal is to keep the city better informed and improve our governmental presence. Such as upgrades to our city web site. Coming up with new ways to reach the community. Get more involved with city events and promote our city. Tanya Fordahl is the committee chairman and will spearhead the new and exciting thoughts on this.
I also created an economic development committee that Josh Anderson will head up. Josh is very dedicated to the community and looking forward to coming up with ideas and work towards the city’s economic development and growth. He will work with our planning and zoning department and economic alliance with the county to ensure that the city is doing everything it can to develop and improve our city’s development.
Steve Gross will continue to be the city’s mayoral Leason. Steve is also a chamber of commerce member and greatly involved in all city matters. He is also the person that you can go to if you have a problem or a suggestion regarding the city. He will keep everyone in the loop and ensure your matters are taken seriously. He helps promote our great city. He coordinates and assists with the 4th of July festivities and also created our small Christmas parade.
So, in closing I want to express my sincere gratitude for your support and the continuation of representing you as Mayor. I am confident our city will continue to improve as we have the best city council that we could possibly have. I cannot do my job without them as everyone plays an important role in running our city.
Sincerely : Mayor Chuck Steele
