W. River Street, Momence. MayorMickPorter called themeeting toorder.
ROLLCALL
Roll was called by theClerkwithAldermenDenton, NovaMetz, Steele, Kupferer, Cook,
Lesyna and JohnMetz present. Alsopresent wasMayorMickPorter. AldermanStraleywas absent
due towork obligations.
APPROVALOFPREVIOUSMEETINGMINUTES
AldermanCookmadeamotion toapprove the Liquor HearingMeetingminutes and the
Regular andExecutiveSessionminutes of theMarch 4, 2014, Council Meetingas presented.
AldermanKupferer seconded themotionwithAldermenSteele, Kupferer, Cook, Lesyna and John
Metz voting yes. AldermenDentonandNovaMetz passed.
APPROVALOFTHEBILLS
The billswere discussed at tonight'sBudget andFinanceCommitteeMeeting. Alderman
Lesynamade amotion to approve the bills for payment. AldermanKupferer seconded themotion
withAldermenDenton, NovaMetz, Steele, Kupferer, Cook, Lesyna and JohnMetz voting yes.
CITIZENFORUM
JohnSokol –Discussion on liquor license. Mr. Sokol handed out a letter that was sent toCity
Hall thismorning regardingallowingmore gamingwith liquor pouring license; he stated that his
businesswould be loosing10-20%becauseof allowingonemore liquor license. Bringinga bighigh
scale restaurant wouldmakemore sense. He stated that hehas spoken tomost local liquor
establishments in town and they all feel the sameand areasking that Council reconsider and not
approve this license. A liquor license tobe created for gaming is cutting into thepieceof their pie.
Mr. Lesyna asked that if the gamersmainpoint is the videoandnot thebar thenwhat difference is
it? Mr. Sokol stated that themoneymade off gamingand liquor is all part of what pays thebills, this
is going to split the pie. AldermanNovaMetz questionedwhether the gamingwas not doingwell,
Mr. Sokol stated that the gaming is holding its own. AldermanDenton did like the idea of someone
remodelingand improving this local establishment, but this conversation is givingher something to
look into further. Options are there toutilize the laundromat inMomence. The gaming is there for
an option. Mayor Porter stated that thereare several steps that need tobedone. Mr. Sokol stated
