HiringStandards. Anyperson employed as a part-time police officermustmeet the
following standards:
a.
Be of goodmoral character, temperate habits, sound health, and physically andmentally
able to perform assigned duties.
b.
Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
c.
Possess a high school diploma orGED certificate.
d.
Possess a validState of Illinois driver’s license.
e.
Possess no prior felony convictions.
f.
Any individualwho has served in theU.S.militarymust have been honorablydischarged.
4.
Discipline. Part-time officers shall be under the disciplinary jurisdiction of the chief of
police. Part-time police officers serve at the discretion of theCityofMomence and shall not
have anyproperty rights in said employment unless otherwise outlined in the present labor
relations agreement, andmaybe removed by theCity authorities at any time. Part-time police
officers shall complywith all applicable rules andGeneralOrders issued by thePolice
Department.
SECTION 2
. That if any section, paragraph, clause, phrase or part of this ordinance is for any
reason held invalid, such decision shall not affect the validityof the remainingprovisions of this
ordinance, and the application of these provisions to anyperson or circumstances shall not be
affected thereby.
SECTION 3
. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflictwith the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed insofar as they conflict herewith.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage as
provided by law.
