Lorri Simpson fromGladiolus Festival addressedCouncil regardingpermission touseCity
property. TheGladiolus Festival requesteduse of theRiver & Locust Streets parking lot for Thursday
(for anewevent, a live band), Friday, Saturday&Sunday of the festival August 6-9, and theuseof the
streets for the traditional parade routes onThursday, Friday&Saturday,August 6-8. They also
requested total closure of the100block ofWestWashingtonSt. at noononFriday afternoon for a free
tee shirt tiedyeingevent that will run from 1-4p.m. and theGladRun for Kids at 3p.m., and to control
useof "thepoint" by the footbridgeandGilsterMary LeeonSaturday andSunday. Possibly theSouth
ShoreDrill Teamwill put ona20-30minute showafter Saturday's paradeby the reviewing stand, so they
wouldneed the100block ofWestWashington closed for at least anhour after theparadeonSaturday.
