ANORDINANCECONCERNINGREGISTRATIONOFCONTRACTORS
WHEREAS,
theCityCouncil of theCityofMomence, Illinois is chargedwith the
continued administration and oversight of theCityCodeBook; and
WHEREAS,
the citizens of theCityofMomence, Illinois, should be assured that all
contractors performingworkwhich require a buildingpermit from theCityofMomence
have satisfied certainminimum requirementswith regard to insurance coverage and other
indications of reliability and responsibility; and
WHEREAS,
theCountyofKankakee has enacted the registration of contractorswithin
the unincorporated areas ofKankakeeCounty; and
WHEREAS,
in the opinion of the corporate authorities of theCityofMomence, said
registration is an adequate indication of responsibilityof building contractors.
NOW, THEREFORE,
be it ordained by theCityCouncil of theCityofMomence,
Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1:
That there is hereby added to theCityCode of theCityofMomence the
following section, under Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 4:
4-1-4:REGISTRATIONOFCONTRACTORS
(A)All contractors, as that term is defined byordinance in theCountyofKankakee,
shall, prior to the commencement of anywork in theCityofMomence, Illinois,
submit to theCityCollector, at theCityHall, of theCityofMomence, its license,
duly issued, and in effect from theCountyofKankakee. The submission of such
license, once a copyhas beenmade, shall authorize the contractor to perform
workwithin theCityofMomence, Illinois.
(B) Any contractorwho violates anyprovision of this chapter shall be subject to the
general penalty as provided in this code (1-4-1-C).
SECTION 2:
The provisions and sections of this ordinance shall be deemed separable
and the invalidityof anyportion of this ordinance shall not affect the validityof the
remainder.
SECTION 3
: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage,
adoption, and publication in pamphlet form, as required by law.
