ANORDINANCEAMENDINGANORDINANCECONCERNINGVEHICLES
FORSALE
WHEREAS,
theCityCouncil of theCityofMomence, Illinois desires to ensure the
safety andwell beingof its citizens, inhabitants, and all other persons
travelingon the streetswithin theCity limits of theCityofMomence,
Illinois; and
WHEREAS,
theCityofMomence, Illinois, has determined that an ordinance concerning
vehicles for sale on city streets should be amended; and
WHEREAS,
theCityCouncil of theCityofMomence, Illinoiswishes to amend theCity
Code, specificallyunder a portion of theCode known asTitle 8, Chapter
2, Section 4, titled “
VEHICLESFORSALE
”.
NOW, THEREFORE,
be it ordained by theCityCouncil of theCityofMomence,
Illinois as follows:
SECTION 1:
That Title 8, Chapter 2, Section 4, titled “
VEHICLESFORSALE
”, of
theCityCode of theCityofMomence, Illinois, is hereby repealed
.
SECTION 2:
That there is hereby added to theCityCode of theCityofMomence,
Illinois, under and in substitution for Title 8, Chapter 2, Section 4, titled
“
VEHICLESFORSALE”
:
8-2-4:VEHICLESFORSALE:
(A)Vehicles that display a "For Sale" or similar sign shall be parked in a lot on a hard
surfacewhere the sale of new or usedvehicles is permitted. (Hard surface includes,
gravel, asphalt, and concrete)
(B)A private individualmayonlypark a vehiclewith a "For Sale" sign for display at that
individual's home on a hard surface, including the drivewayor roadway in front / side of
the residence. (Vehicles are prohibited from beingdisplayed on soft surfaces, such as
grass or dirt.)
(C)Avehiclewith a "For Sale" signmaynot bemaintained or parked for display in the
public right ofwayor public property for the sole purpose of selling. (This section does
not apply if the vehicle is parked incidental for other purposes.)
