Semitrailer
. Every vehiclewithout motivepower, other than apole trailer, designed for carrying
persons or propertyand for being drawn by amotor vehicle and so constructed that somepart of
itsweight and that of its load rests upon or is carried by another vehicle
Tandem axles
. Any 2 ormore single axleswhose centers aremore than40 inches and not more
than 96 inches apart, measured to the nearest inchbetween extremeaxles in the series, except
as provided inSection 15-111 [625 ILCS 5/15-111] for special hauling vehicles.
Trailer
. Every vehiclewithoutmotive power in operation, other thana pole trailer, designed for
carrying persons or property and for being drawn byamotor vehicle and so constructed that no
part of itsweight rests upon the towing vehicle.
Truck tractor
. Everymotor vehicle designed and used primarily for drawing other vehicles and
not so constructed as to carrya load other thana part of theweight of the vehicle and load so
drawn.

(B)
OVERWEIGHTAND/OROVERDIMENSIONVEHICLES.
1.
It shall beunlawful for any person to be in control of, to drive, topark, ormove on, upon
or across or for theowner to causeor knowingly permit tobe parked, driven, ormoved upon
or across, any street or highwayunder the jurisdiction of theCity, any vehicle or combination
of vehicles exceeding the size andweight limitations stated in the ILCSCh. 625, Act 5, §15-
102 (width), ILCSCh. 625, Act 5, § 15-103 (height), ILCSCh. 625, Act 5, § 15-107 (length),
ILCSCh. 625, Act 5, § 15-111 (weight) and ILCSCh. 625, Act 5, §15-316 (Local
Restrictions).
2. Size andweights limitationswhileoperating onCity streets shall not apply to fire apparatus or
equipment for snowor ice removal operations owned or operatedby or for any governmental
bodyor private snowand ice removal operations per 625 ILCS 5/15-101c or to implements of
husbandry temporarilyoperated or towed in a combination in the furtherance of a farm or
agricultural endeavor and toany vehicle or combination of vehicles operatingunder the terms
of a valid oversize and/or dimensionpermit issued by theCity. These exceptions donot
include operationover apostedweight restricted elevated structure.
3. Where lower size andweight limits or other restrictions are imposedbyordinance under
authorityof ILCSCh. 625, Act 5, §§15-102, 15-103, 15-107&15-111,15-316 and 15-317,
and signs indicating such limitations or restrictions are posted, it shall be unlawful tooperate
any vehicleor combination of vehicles in excess of such sizeor weight limitations or in
violation of such restrictions.
4. Whenever any vehicleor combinationof vehicles is operated in violation of this section, the
owner and/or driver of such vehicle shall bedeemedguilty of such violationand either or both
theowner and driver of such vehiclemaybe prosecuted for such violation.
(C)
PERMITSFOROVERWEIGHTAND/OROVERDIMENSIONVEHICLES.
1. Apermit shall be required for themovement of any vehicle or combination of vehicles
with anon-divisible loadon roadways and bridgeswithin the jurisdiction of the City of
Momencewhich exceeds thedimensions andweights permitted for theparticular
roadways to be traversed.
