AldermanStraley called aBudget andFinanceCommitteemeeting for October 20 at 7:15PM.
AldermanNovaMetz: Discuss and voteon tap on fees forAllenLumber Company. Industry
is important, EnterpriseZone is needed. Request is for waiver of two tap on fees, one tap on
requests has to dowith the lay of the land; otherwise it would have been a request for one. It was
stated if theCouncil wouldentertain themotion of splitting it? Citywants businesses to expand.
AldermanCook’s thought to entertain industry he believes theCity should split costs. Council was
concernedabout using funds toobtain a20 year low interest rate loan for Southsidewatermain
project. SeveralAldermenwere concernedabout other businesses coming toCouncil wanting fees
to bewaived, stating that aprotocol needs tobe set up tobe the same for all; not onan individual
basis. It was stated that that waswhy theEnterpriseZonewas created, tobringBusiness to town,
yet theCity has put nothing into theEnterpriseZone. Over 5 years theCitywill receive basically
50% of sales tax fromAllen Lumber. RaySimpson, liaison forAllen Lumber, stated that lots that
have been for sale on thewest sideof town for a long time, theCity needs to try to show their
support for industry and homeowners. Is theCity invested in the community? After discussion,
Mayor Porter stated that for lack of motion thiswill not go tomotion.
AldermanLesyna called anOrdinanceCommitteemeeting for 7P.M. onOctober 20 to
discuss the addition of revenue and general obligation bonds as collateral for City bonds, add
investment policy toCodebook and an ordinance regarding liquor license.
DEPARTMENTHEADREPORTS
Chief Cavender stated that the situationswithmunicipal prosecuting, e-ticket and software
issues have been resolved.
TREASURERREPORT–Treasurer BeckyPeterson –Annual Treasurer's report has been
completed. Reconciliation of accounts is still beingworked on. Auditor has received all necessary
reports to goaheadwith 2013-2014audit.

7:00PM. Partial closingof NorthDixieHighway for NorfolkRailroad repairswill effect all travelers
