ORDINANCEREGULATINGTHE
SIZEANDWEIGHTOFVEHICLES
WHEREAS,
Section 11-1-1 of the IllinoisMunicipal Code grants tomunicipalities
theauthority to pass and enforceall necessary police ordinances; and
WHEREAS,
Section 11-80-2of the IllinoisMunicipal Code grantsmunicipalities
theauthority to regulate the use of the streets; and
WHEREAS,
Section 15 of the IllinoisVehicleCode grantsmunicipalities the
authority to regulate the size andweight of vehicles.
THEREFORE, BE ITORDAINED,
by theMayor andCityCouncil of theCity of
Momence, KankakeeCounty, Illinois, as follows:
SectionOne:
That Title 7, Chapter 1, Section 10, “Weight Restrictions” of the
CodifiedOrdinances of theCity of Momence is hereby repealed in its entirety.
SectionTwo:
That anewTitle 7, Chapter 1, Section 10, entitled “Regulating
Size andWeight of Vehicles,” is hereby adopted, whichTitle7, Chapter 1, Section10,
shall readas follows:

. The followingwords andphraseswhenused in thisCode
shall, for thepurpose of thisCode, have themeanings respectively ascribed to them in this
Chapter, except when the context otherwise requires andexcept where another definition set
forth in another Chapter of thisCodeand applicable to that Chapter or a designated part thereof
is applicable.

The total load transmitted to the roadby all wheelswhose centersmay be included
between 2parallel transverse vertical planes 40 inches apart extending across the full widthof
the vehicle.
