ANORDINANCEAMENDING
SECTION 7-6-1-2, DETERMINATIONOF
RATESANDCHARGESBYADDING
ANADDITIONALCHARGETOMONTHLY
WATERBILLSTOASSISTTHECITY
INREPAYINGAN IEPALOAN.
WHEREAS, theCityneeds to improve itswater system for the benefit of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the improvement to be paid for by a low interest rate IEPA loan
could be covered by a $7.00 permonth flat increase in allwater bills; and
WHEREAS, section 7-6-1-2 of theCityCode establishes rates and charges forwater
service; and each subsection of that ordinance needs to be amended to dealwith the necessary
increasemonthly charge; and
WHEREAS, theCorporateAuthoritieswill, once the IEPALoan is repaid, consider
whether the extra charge added by thisOrdinance should be repealed ormodified.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITORDAINEDBYTHEMAYORANDCITYCOUNCIL
OFTHECITYOFMOMENCE, KANKAKEECOUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION1: That Subsection (A), (B), (C), (D) and (E) shall be amended into that there
shall be added to each subsection the followingwords: “There shall be added to eachmonthly
bill, in addition to the calculated amount specified above, the additional sum of $7.00 per
month.”
SECTION2: Section 7-6-1-2 shall be amended in that Subsection (F) shall have added
to it the followingwords: “The $7.00permonth charge, established inSections (A) through (E)
above, shall not be subject to a cost-of-living increase.
